Poor, little one. You're sick today. :'( I noticed last night I thought you might be getting sick because I could feel the difference as you nursed. There's just something in the way it changes, your skin feels different, your suck is different, your mouth is a little bit warmer... That's another great thing about the nursing relationship. I tried to keep you comfy and not too hot, not too cold, and prayed for you to be healthy. About 5 am you woke up and you were HOT even though the room was cool. I took your temperature and it was over 102. It was so cute because even though you were sick, you told me you had to go potty. So we went pee in the middle of the night. That's the second time that's happened. Not quite a first, but close. :) I felt so bad for you, though. I hate to see you not feeling well! I gave you some ibuprofen and tried to rock/nurse you back to sleep but you were "all done", as you adamantly told me. We went to the living room and watched Mickey Mouse (your current fave show, especially Road Rally and Space Capt Donald. We watched Road Rally). Finally you were able to go back to sleep at 8am. Since you hadn't gone to bed until midnight(!), waking up at 5 am and staying up was not an option. After going back to sleep you slept until almost 11. All day I had a hard time bringing down your fever. Even though I gave you ibuprofen and Tylenol it kept edging up to 103+. We took about a 30 minute walk in the stroller because the weather was very nice today (about 72 while we were walking) and then we went back to the apt and bounced your balls. After going back inside we ate and then you took a short nap, about 35-45 minutes long. I don't know what it is, but when you get sick you have a hard time sleeping sometimes! Then we watched a bit of Pajanimals and you played in the water in the bathroom sink to cool you down because you still had a fever of 103. Daddy Abba came home and you were nursing and rocking with me in the chair while he was in the kitchen. Suddenly, you started grabbing at your throat, neck, back, and tummy and whimpering. I asked you if it hurt and you said yes, but you say yes to lots of questions these days so it was hard to know for sure. My mind instantly jumped to all the worst scenarios- stiif neck, meningitis?; abdominal pain, intussusception? I worry so much about you all the time. :) I asked if you wanted to go to the dr and you sThen aid yes.

Your first jack-o-lantern!

Hi, Baby! I love you! I love you so very, very much. This blog is dedicated to you. I wanted a place where I could write down what you experience each day and you can read it later when you're older. Right now you're growing and changing so much every day, and every day is a blast! Each day holds something new for you to see, do, and experience and I plan to record those wonderful "firsts" here. I love you, little one! I can't wait to see the man you'll grow into someday, but for now I'm happy to have you snuggle in my arms and to hear you say, "Awoo" back to me when I say, "I love you." Can life get any better? I don't think so. :)

October 14, 2013. Columbus Day.
Daily First: Today we made a jack-o-lantern together. Your first! I cut off the top then you helped me scoop seeds and pulp (actually, we played together stirring the pumpkin and putting different utensils in and out) then I carved the pumpkin later. You weren't too sure about the pulp! You didn't want to touch it and told me "No" when I put a bit of it with seeds on your hand. You had so much fun, though, and so did I! Thanks for making a jack-o-lantern with me today! I love you. :)

Other Happenings: You ate a few bites of a peanut butter cookie today. Yesterday was your first bite of a PB cookie. You took a 3 hour nap which has only happened one or two other times, you've always liked being awake and being busy more than lying down resting or sleeping.
